About Good Plan Us
There had to be a better way
Born from the frustrations of real small business owners who were stuck between harassing their customers and selling debts to collections.
The Hockey Rink Problem
With Good Plan was born from the complaints of my closest friends and their Home Service and Professional Service companies. They were stuck in an impossible situation—having to chase money from people they knew, people whose kids played hockey with their kids.
Their only options seemed to be keep texting and calling (which they hated), or sell the debt to collections at a massive loss (which they hated even more). When you send someone to collections, you're not just losing money, you're burning a relationship. And when your kids are on the same hockey team, that makes for a very, very awkward season.
Nobody wanted to "release the hounds." But they also couldn't just write off thousands of dollars in unpaid invoices. They needed something in between, something that got results without destroying relationships.
Something Neutral, Friendly, But Firm
That's where With Good Plan comes in. We created a system that's neutral, friendly but firm, and actually gets results, without the awkwardness, without the harassment, and without selling the debt for pennies on the dollar.
Instead of aggressive collection tactics, we help businesses and customers work together on fair payment plans. The check-ins are calm and respectful. The tone is grown-up and neighbourly. No threats, no pressure, just a simple question: "Were you able to make this payment?"
It turns out that most people want to pay what they owe. They just need a clear plan and some understanding when life gets in the way. With Good Plan gives them that dignity while helping small businesses actually get paid.
Collection Agencies Were Useful... in the 1980s
Let's be honest: traditional collection agencies made sense in a different era. When communication meant phone calls and letters, and tracking payments meant paper files, having a third party handle collections was necessary.
But now? We have the internet. We have smartphones. We have instant communication in our pockets. The old, heavy-handed approach of selling debts to aggressive agencies is outdated, and it's unnecessarily destructive to both businesses and their customer relationships.
With Good Plan uses modern technology to create a better path forward. One that respects everyone involved, maintains relationships, and helps small businesses get paid without having to choose between being the bad guy or taking a huge loss.
Because the hockey season shouldn't be awkward just because someone fell behind on a payment.
